There are no favorites here at Fluid – no politics – just a very real dialogue about what our employees have accomplished each month. Sometimes the process of selecting Employee of the Year is simply gut-wrenching because there are so many people who are passionate about what they do, work hard every day, and genuinely care about our clients and one another.

Congratulations, Devin Kindred!

Devin’s role morphed and expanded in 2015. He started out as a senior engineer, then took on the role of Director of Client Services. If that wasn’t enough of a monumental increase in responsibility, he also took on the management of the Help Desk team and Service Ops.

Devin handled these changes with grace, dedication and a great attitude.

He treats clients with respect, works hard for them and is focused on enabling their businesses to grow.

DSC_0097Devin is always willing to help his colleagues with projects and tasks. He has a sixth sense about when a teammate might need a pick-me-up -- and even with everything on his plate, he finds the time to mentor new team members.

Helping Others: Why I Donate to the SPCA

1097843_32141248505204[1]As the writer of 95% of our blogs, I thought it would be a nice change to write about something completely unrelated to technology or the cloud or “what we can do for you.” In our hustle-bustle professional lives, always striving for more, each of us have something equally if not more important – our families and our personal passions. I would like make a departure from the business world and spend a moment on something important to me, because it is important to my daughter.

Madeline, my daughter, is the admissions coordinator for the SPCA and deals with heartbreaking situations on a daily basis. At only 21, a typical day for her includes counseling families twice her age every day, helping them deal with the unbearable task of euthanizing their family pet, rescuing hundreds of animals who have been horribly abused, nursing them back to health, spay and neutering, and helping loving families to adopt them. Her facility doesn’t just take in dogs and cats; they have a barn full of horses, goats and even potbellied pigs. Often times this includes being a “foster mom” and nursing puppies and kittens in her small home for weeks until they are healthy enough for adoption — all paid for personally from a salary much lower than anyone can imagine.

This is the life of an SPCA worker or volunteer; mostly going unknown, underappreciated and underpaid. But this is their choice, their passion and they do it for the love of the animals.

Just today I received an email from my daughter asking if I would donate to their cause. Reading the letter below, all I can say is, “She had me at Daddy.”

Daddy,

I am committing to make a difference in the lives of animals and I would like to ask for your support. Thousands of pets and their people will walk, run, roll and stroll the Continental Bridge (in the shadow of the beautiful Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge) for the SPCA of Texas Tenth Annual Strut Your Mutt 3K and 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 16, enjoying food, music, kids’ activities and exciting booths. It is all to help the SPCA of Texas rescue, heal and find homes for tens of thousands of North Texas animals in 2015.

I know you understand why this is so important to me and that is why I am asking for your financial support. Your generous donation will help provide a clean, safe haven for hundreds of homeless animals at the SPCA of Texas who are waiting to be adopted by loving families. The money I raise will also allow the shelter staff to provide essentials like warm beds, fun toys, yummy treats, medical care and human companionship to many animals who have never known real love and compassion.

Allen Americans Hockey Fluid Internal Event

Working at Fluid allows for so many great opportunities both inside and outside the workplace. At the Dallas Business Journal's Best Places to Work Luncheon last year, Wade won a suite for an Allen Americans Hockey game. Last night we cashed in on Wade's luck, called the event #FluidOnIce and went crazy when the dessert cart showed up. Our team knows how to have fun and really knows a thing or two about desserts. Unfortunately the Americans didn't win but lost in the most exciting way possible: a shootout. Not too shabby having our name on the door.

Fluid IT Services has a new location in Wilmington North CarolinaWe’re Growing!

In the last year, our Fluid IT Services team has experienced firsthand what it’s like for our clients when they go through big growth spurts in their businesses. We have helped growing businesses align their IT needs with their business needs for over a dozen years – and now our own business is having a significant and thrilling growth spurt.

We walk our talk. We stayed committed to making sure our business growth and our IT growth always work in alignment for the betterment of our business and our clients’ businesses. So while Fluid IT Services has been helping small and medium-sized businesses throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas to solve their technology problems since 2002, we are now expanding to support more customers.  

In our continued effort to provide more top-quality products and services to our clients, we are thrilled to announce that we are now expanding into a new office in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Our passion for technology and focus on aligning IT to business is only growing as we stretch into our new location. In fact, look for new product and service announcements to come soon as we expand our offerings to meet our clients’ growing needs.

We are so excited about the opportunity this growth will bring to our current and future clients. We hope to bring the same depth of relationship and focus on customer service to the Wilmington area that we have brought to TX, OK and AR.

The Fluid Family Just Had a Growth Spurt

It’s a good sign when the Fluid team expands. It means more small and medium-sized businesses in the Dallas area are growing, they’re realizing that they really need a trusted partner to manage their technological backbone – and we need to add more members to our team to make sure these businesses get the support they need. The hiring process is never a quick one for us. We look for a combination of smarts, experience and the kind of personality that doesn’t cringe at the thought of going to a superhero movie for a team event. New employees must also be able to stand our special way of doing fitness challenges… FluidFit We’re happy to say we’ve recently found two new unique matches for our unique team. Drumroll please…

The Fantastic Jaime Fuerman

DSC_0182Jaime Fuerman has a solid track record of experience in sales, marketing, staffing and business development. We needed someone who could get to know our customers and learn their businesses inside and out, and this is where Jaime shines. “My goal as a business development manager is to be the ‘eyes and ears’ for our clients and the local market so we can better understand their needs and continue to add value to their businesses,” Jaime shared. “By better understanding how their companies operate, I get to know what those businesses really need, want and value – and I can be a trusted resource for them.” Jaime believes a successful company is all about the people. She cares about her customers and has a genuine interest in getting to know them and their businesses so she can help them grow and succeed. So when we asked her what sold her on the Fluid team, it’s no surprise that she responded, “The way they believe in doing business, their genuine commitment to their clients’ success, and most importantly the people.” Apparently we charmed Jaime as much as she charmed us during the interview process. Because no Fluid getting-to-know-you interview is complete without us asking an embarrassing personal question, we asked Jaime to tell us something funny about herself. She said, “I love to dance, but I’m terrible at it. I always end up embarrassing myself.” Motivated, customer-focused and utterly charming. It’s really too bad Jaime is a Sooners fan.

The Captivating Jacob Caramanna

DSC_0163When we needed some extra help-desk and customer support, Jacob Caramanna fit the bill nicely. He believes in trust, respect and mutual gain, and his ultimate goal is for our customers to be able to speak with him on a first-name basis. “I want Fluid’s clients to know that no matter what the issue is, if they pick up the phone then that problem will be resolved,” he told us. “I work hard to learn and progress both professionally as well as personally. If I don’t have the answers then I make it my priority to learn and find out.” Though Jacob is a full-time student earning a bachelor’s degree in networking and server administration, he is one of our most life-experienced new hires. He served in the Navy for 6 years as a radar technician, an intense job that taught him how to adapt and work well under pressure. When Jacob isn’t helping Fluid customers solve their pressing technology problems, he’s looking up toward the heavens. “I am a huge astronomy nerd. An all-around nerd, for that matter,” he said. “I love music, movies, games, reading and anything that lets me interact with others. I actually didn’t learn to read until I was nine, though, because when people read to me, I could memorize what they said. Yeah, it took my teachers three years to figure that one out.” Jacob, you’ll fit in nicely with this funny, geeky bunch. Want to welcome our new hires personally?
