Dallas Business Journal Uncovered Our Secret

“We’re not recruiting employees – we’re recruiting people.” – Wade Yeaman

Fluid IT Services founder and CEO Wade Yeaman built this company with two things in mind: providing outstanding service to Fluid’s clients, and making Fluid a great place to work. He has wildly succeeded in both. So it’s no wonder that Dallas Business Journal has chosen Fluid as one of the top 60 places to work.

According to the latest U.S. census, the city of Dallas alone has well over 121,000 businesses – that’s not counting the surrounding suburbs. So Dallas Business Journal (DBJ) had one heck of a job in front of them, selecting the 60 North Texas businesses for their 2014 Best Places to Work list.

DBJ had extensive qualification criteria. They surveyed employees, compiled data and compared results with national measures. When we received notification that we had been chosen for the 2014 list, we were flattered – but not surprised. You see, we think of it this way: If you’re going to spend the bulk of your week at work, work should be fun and your teammates should be both like-minded and diverse.

The people we hire for the Fluid team are inclusive, creative, engaged, motivated, respectful and professional. We leave our egos at home because we know what we know — and we actively learn what we don’t know. We value performance, technical competence, and intellectual curiosity.

Wade also encourages us to have fun as a team. In fact, we just wrapped up a company-wide fitness challenge we dubbed FluidFit. Wade bought us all Fitbits, and we competed with one another to see who could get the most steps. What did this have to do with IT services? Nothing. But it made going to work even more fun – and that was the whole point.

We have a great team. We love what we do and we’re good at what we do. We have fun together. All of that combined makes Fluid a fantastic place to work. We’re proud that DBJ has acknowledged us on their 2014 list of the 60 best places to work in Dallas, and we look forward to attending the award ceremony on June 19 at the Fairmont Dallas Hotel. We may or may not be wearing Fitbits with our black-tie attire.
